Outcast, the new series from the creator of TWD

Posted by

On 6 June FOX will air, simultaneously in 125 other countries, the series “Outcast”, based on the comic of the same name created by Robert Kirkman and Paul Azaceta. Kirkman is the author of the already famous “The Walking Dead”.

This time, though, it will not be a zombie series, but one about demonic possession.

Synopsis

The story is set in the town of Rome (coincidence?), West Virginia, in the United States. The protagonist, Kyle Barnes, has been haunted by demonic possession since childhood. The demons seem to enter the bodies of the people he loves, such as his mother.

That is why he decides to isolate himself from the world and cut off contact with everyone.

After a chance meeting with Reverend Anderson, who had helped him as a child, Kyle in turn helps him exorcise a possessed boy, and this is where he will discover that it may be no coincidence that the demons are haunting him.

Reviews

The first episode aired today in the United States and the reviews seem positive. It is a series with a dark, heavy atmosphere, as its subject requires.

Young Gabriel Bateman, who plays Josh, the boy Kyle helps to exorcise, has been particularly praised.

“Outcast” is certainly one of the most awaited horror series of the season, and it seems it has already been renewed for a second season.

Update: in the United States the series premiered on Cinemax on 3 June 2016. The second season aired in 2017 on Fox in the UK and between July and September 2018 in the United States, but on 2 October 2018 Cinemax announced its cancellation. “Outcast” therefore ended after two seasons, 20 episodes in total.

Below is the trailer presented at last year’s Comic-Con. Enjoy!
